US depicts its true image by quitting JCPOA

Tehran, May 9, IRNA – The US displayed its true image by quitting the Iran nuclear deal, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), proving that it disregard logic and negotiations and will not comply with any deal.

Tehran, May 9, IRNA – The US displayed its true image by quitting the Iran nuclear deal, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), proving that it disregard logic and negotiations and will not comply with any deal.

Talking to IRNA late Tuesday, Spokesman for Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyyed Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini said in the course of the marathon talks which led to JCPOA, Iran proved that it is open to negotiations and favors logic.

“Today, it was revealed to the world that the US disregards logic and negotiations and it cannot uphold the agreements,” he said.

Iran has worked out a plan for the new conditions and there is good consensus among the three branches of government, the official said.

Majlis' Hope Fraction, independent MPs as well as members of other fractions in a statement on Tuesday announced that they will never allow reinstatement of sanctions to affect public livelihood, Naqavi-Hosseini said.

“We are sure that the international community will not stand by Trump under the current conditions and will not take part in the sanctions, as they are persistent in keeping the JCPOA,” he said.

The US should know that it will get nowhere through these measures and will not be able to tarnish the Iranian nation’s unity or achieve its goals, he said.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced the country’s withdrawal from the landmark international pact, a decision which drew fierce opposition from the EU, Britain, Germany and France, which are still committed to the JCPOA.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as the deal on Iran’s nuclear program, was signed between Iran and six international mediators (the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, and France) on July 14, 2015. On January 16, 2016, the parties to the deal announced beginning of its implementation.

Under the deal, Iran undertakes to curb its nuclear activities and place them under total control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in exchange for termination of the sanctions imposed previously by the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and the United States over its nuclear program.
