Tehran, Damascus collaborate to stabilize region
Tehran, Nov 13, 2018(IRNA) – Iran supports Damascus in fighting terrorism and stabilizing the region, said the Deputy Chairman of Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group Ahmad Salek-Kashani on Tuesday.
“Political and military achievements of Syria against Takfiri groups reflects the endeavor of Syrian people and government,” Salek-Kashani said in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Mohammad-Hossein Ragheb al-Hussein.
'With the presence of Syrian people and the guidance of their leaders, terrorists failed to continue crime and invasion,' he added.
He stressed that the Syrian army’s victory against terrorists has greatly helped stabilizing the region.
Salek-Kashani called the Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group’s visit to Tehran important and welcomed the expansion of ties between the two countries, especially in economic, cultural, and political fields.
Al-Hussain, for his part, thanked Iranian people and government’s backing of Syria, saying, the supports of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution played an essential role in annihilating terrorists.
He referred to Takfiri groups’ defeat in Syria and added that the the Syrians and their leaders will never forget Iran’s aids and strategic vision in combating terrorism.
Syrian ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud was also present at the meeting and said that Islamic countries should remain united to isolate the Zionist regime.
The 15-member delegation, headed by Hussein Raqib al-Hussein, arrived in Tehran on Monday to meet some Iranian officials.
