Tehran, April 18, 2021 (ICANA) – President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in a meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic stressed the importance of strengthening relations with Serbia in industrial, trade, agriculture, cultural and tourism fields.
Referring to the fact that Iran and Serbia have both tried in line with preserving their independence and fighting unilateralism, Qalibaf said stronger relations between Iran and Serbia will result in all-out cooperation.
He expressed dissatisfaction over level of economic relations between two countries.
Iran and Serbia have the experience of standing against US political and economic pressures, he noted.
He also pointed to good background of parliamentary cooperation between two countries, saying the Islamic Parliament of Iran is ready for developing parliamentary relations with Serbia.
He invited his Serbian counterpart to visit Iran.
Meanwhile, Selakovic described Iran as an important country, saying Serbian people respect Iran’s successful efforts in line with preserving independence and freedom.
He also appreciated Iran’s all-out support for Serbian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Serbia is ready for taking advantage of the opportunity for promoting parliamentary relations with Iran, he added.
We are ready to cooperate with Iran in industrial, economic, agricultural and health fields, he reiterated.
Selakovic urged both sides to share experiences in line with fighting COVID19.
