Tehran, September 9, 2021 (ICANA) – Iranian Member of Parliament Elham Azad hoped that the cooperation between Iran and Cuba in the field of vaccine production will be a successful example of bilateral cooperation and pave the way for reinforcing ties.
Speaking in a meeting with vice speaker of Cuba Parliament which was held on the sidelines of the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Vienna, Azad said Iran considers Cuba as a strategic partner and is interested in developing all-out relations to ensure the national interests of the two countries.
Iran has always condemned the US unilateral sanctions against Cuba over the past six decades, which have caused irreparable humanitarian damage to the Cuban people, she said.
Fortunately, there is constructive cooperation between the two countries in international bodies that include the national and common interests of the two countries, she added.
Iran has strategic cooperation with Cuba in the field of medicine and this cooperation is in no way comparable to cooperation with other countries, she noted.
Parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Cuba can be a great help in strengthening friendly relations, Azad reiterated.
Meanwhile, senior Cuban MP said Iran-Cuba parliaments are very active, and in recent months there has been a meeting between friendship groups and they have agreed to further develop relations.
We are eager to promote bilateral ties in the fields of health, education, economics and politics, she added.
