Iran Wants Removal of Barrier to Banking Relations with Belgium

TEHRAN, Feb 8, 2018 (ICANA) – Head of the Iran-Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group Parvaneh Selahshouri says barriers to banking relations between Iran and Belgium should be eliminated.

According to the Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency (ICANA), Selahshouri made the remark in a meeting with Belgian Ambassador to Tehran François Delhoye in Tehran on Wednesday.

Selahshouri, who is also Head of Women Fraction and Cultural Committee at Iranian Parliament, hoped for further strengthening Iran-Belgium relations, in parliamentary domain in particular.

Referring to abundant capacity of the two countries for expansion of ties, especially in the cultural, scientific and academic fields, Selahshouri said the Islamic Republic of Iran and Belgium enjoy abundant potential capacity which can serve as grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation.

She asked for investment in museum construction and expansion of tourism attraction.

She referred to positive prospect of mutual ties and said Iranian parliament, especially the Iran-Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group will support any move to use existing capacity to consolidate and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

While welcoming more talks and consultations by Iranian and Belgian officials, she said more exchange of political and parliamentary visits will ben influential in building mutual understanding and identity potential grounds and commonalities.

 Selahshouri said strong bonds of the two countries necessitate more consultations by Iranian and Belgian senior officials.

Delhoye for his part urged expansion of bilateral ties, especially mutual cultural cooperation.

Pointing to growing mutual cooperation, he said Belgium is interested in expansion of bilateral ties and upgrading ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He highlighted the need for building up efforts to eliminate banking barriers posed to bilateral relations and referred to the importance of exchange of parliamentary visits by different ranks of Iranian and Belgian officials.
