Tehran, Sept 18, 2020 (ICANA) - Austrian Ambassador to Iran Stefan Scholz described Iran as a great, historical and civilized country, saying it plays major role in the region.
Scholz made the remarks in a meeting with Special Assistant to the President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Stressing the important position of Iran in establishing stability and security in regional equations, he said Austria considers Iran as an important country which plays significant part in fighting terrorism and ISIS.
He noted that developing parliamentary relations with result in boosting cooperation in other fields.
During the meeting both sides discussed the latest parliamentary, bilateral, regional and international relations.
They also reviewed US presidential elections and situation in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen.
Amir Abdollahian, for his part, referred to 500-year-old relations between Iran and Austria, saying relations between Tehran and Vienna is regarded as a suitable background for reinforcing cooperation.
He also pointed to formation of Iran-Austria parliamentary friendship group and underlined promoting parliamentary relations.
Criticizing White House arrogant behavior with regard to normalizing UAE and Bahrain relations with the Israeli regime, he said US is after forcing rulers in some states in the Persian Gulf to maintain ties with Israel.
He noted that the fabricated compromise of the UAE and Bahrain with Tel Aviv is merely for election purposes and has no value.
