Tehran, Oct 19, 2020 (ICANA) – President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in a phone call with his Malaysian counterpart Azhar Azizan Harun said US regime has imposed cruel and illegal sanctions against Iran amid the outbreak of coronavirus, urging Islamic countries not to follow these sanctions.
Qalibaf referred to the importance of reinforcing unity among Muslim states, saying Iran and Malaysia as two important countries in the Islamic World should have more cooperation for strengthening unity and preventing from division.
He expressed hope for Iranian and Malaysian parliaments to try for facilitating and accelerating cooperation especially in economic field.
He also hoped for Iran-Malaysia joint commission to cause development of cooperation.
Qalibaf called for facilitating consular affairs for Iranian nationals in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Azizan Harun welcomed developing parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Malaysia, saying we are interested in reinforcing relations between two Muslim states.
Malaysian parliament hails activities of parliamentary friendship groups, he added.
Malaysian Foreign Ministry and the international affairs department of the Malaysian Parliament will spare no efforts for implementing all agreements with Iran, he noted.
Iran and Malaysia always try to reinforce unity in the Islamic Ummah.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Azizan Harun said Malaysia does not recognize illegal sanctions which are not based on UN resolutions.
