Tehran, September 12, 2021 (ICANA) - President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf emphasized developing relations between the two countries and its impact on the regional developments, and called for paving the way for participation of the vaccinated people in the Arbaeen rituals.
Speaking in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi in Tehran, Qalibaf said reinforcing relations between the two countries has an impact on regional issues, especially on neighbors.
Increasing Tehran-Baghdad interactions in various fields, especially developing economic and trade exchanges, has an important role in meeting the interests of the people.
Boosting economic interaction through developing infrastructure such as railways, transportation routes and common border markets is an important step in removing obstacles and will result in dynamism in the economies of the two countries and other neighboring states as well.
Criticizing US destructive policies, Qalibaf said the United States has always adopted biased policies to continually plunge the region into chaos and insecurity.
He went on to say that joint cooperation between Iran and Iraq and other regional states in ensuring security and stability can be a strong barrier to the destabilizing actions taken by the United States and its allies.
Referring to the interference of foreigners in the regional developments aiming to create insecurity, he said: "It has been proven to us that trans-regional countries never decide in favor of the interests of Iran and Iraq, and the two countries should rely on their capacities to resolve issues.
Meanwhile, al-Kadhimi said developing friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries in the political, parliamentary, economic and trade fields is of great importance and priority to the Iraqi government and the nation.
Continuous interactions and talks between Iranian and Iraqi officials have a great impact on facilitating and strengthening cooperation and removing possible roadblocks.
We are always grateful for the support of the government and the people of Iran during the difficult years for the Iraqi people, and this has strengthened the ties between the two countries.
