Tehran, December 12, 2021 (ICANA) – Iranian Lawmaker Fada Hossein Maleki in a meeting with Pakistan Ambassador to Tehran Rahim Hayat Qureshi said the security of the region is linked to resolving the problems of Afghanistan.
Referring to the historical, cultural and religious commonalities between Iran and Pakistan, Maleki said that the commonalities between the two countries in various fields have paved the way for developing bilateral relations.
Parliamentary meetings have provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, he added.
The capacity of good cooperation between Iran and Pakistan will be effective in solving the problems of Afghanistan, he noted.
The 20-year presence of the US in Afghanistan has resulted in displacement of the oppressed Afghans, he stated.
Emphasizing the need for interaction between Chabahar, Gwadar and Karachi ports, Maleki said it will affect developing the region's economy and expanding relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Hayat Qureshi referred to the high level of cooperation between Iran and Pakistan and stressed the need to use the existing capabilities to develop relations.
Pointing to the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Islamabad, he said: "The issue of Afghanistan is a good opportunity for maintaining convergence and unity among Islamic countries."
The regional countries' problems should be solved by the countries in the region, he noted.
The solution to Afghanistan's problem is to establish an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic groups, he stated.
He hailed capacity of the border markets between Iran and Pakistan and stressed the need to remove obstacles to developing these markets, creating infrastructure and strengthening cooperation in this field.
