Tehran, April 29, 2021 (ICANA) - Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union group in the Islamic Parliament of Iran Mojtaba Rezakhah stressed the importance of multilateralism, saying the United Nations should be after creating a post-pandemic world with a spirit of equality, greater cooperation.
Addressing the UN committee session in the 142nd IPU meeting, Rezakhah said the UNGA in a joint statement which was released on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of its establishment stressed the need to use a new version of multilateralism as the only way to end these challenges, including COVID19 pandemic crisis.
Undoubtedly, to meet the current challenges it is required to integrate the cooperation of the countries under the management of the United Nations as the largest and most comprehensive international organization in the world.
COVID19 pandemic, and the apparent inability of nations to quell the terrible global crisis, demonstrate their fragility and the need to reform the current world order, he added.
Multilateralism is not just an option but a necessity that we must consider for a more equal, more tolerable and sustainable world, he said adding that the UN must be at the center of all our actions and efforts to materialize this fact.
