West Fearful of Islamic wave of Awakening, says Parliament Speaker
Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, Ali Larijani said on Thursday that the West's concern about Islamic awakening is the root cause of the recent terrorist attacks on Iranian scientists.
"The Islamic awakening with the eruption of the Islamic Revolution has served to the awareness in the region and this has prompted the recent assassinations by terrorist elements," Larijani said in the holy city of Qom.
Larijani said the West, particularly the U.S was afraid of a wave of awakening led by the Islamic Republic which has intensified the anti-US sentiment in the Middle East.
The impasse with Iran over its nuclear program or human rights record is a mere cover-up to conceal their real concern, Larijani noted.
The Iranian parliament speaker further lashed out at the West's silence toward recent terror attacks in Tehran.
Two Iranian university professors Fereidoon Abbasi Davani and Majid Shahriari were assassinated in separate terrorist bomb attacks here in Tehran on Monday morning with the latter killed immediately after the blast.
Another Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, was also assassinated in a terrorist bomb attack in Tehran in January.
Iranian officials took the Zionist regime of Israel and US hirelings inside Iran responsible for the terrorist operation.
