TEHRAN, Apr. 27, 2014 (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, once again, underlined that the only way out of the nearly 3-year-long bloodshed in Syria is persuading all sides to take part in comprehensive national dialogue.
Speaking at a meeting with Head of French Parliament (Senate) Finance Commission Phillipe Marini here on Saturday, the top Iranian parliamentarian said that, since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, Iran has insisted on political solution to stop the chaos and has welcomed determination of Syrian fate by people of that country.
Phillipe Marini, who is in Tehran heading a French parliamentary delegation, said France believes that realizing peculiarities of Iran as an effective country in the region has important role in understanding world and region problems.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. Damascus says the West and its regional allies have been fuelling the unrest by providing militants with money and weapons.
According to some reports, over 140,000 people have been killed and millions of others have been displaced due to the turmoil in Syria. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) announced earlier this month that the number of the refugees who fled Syria and registered in Lebanon has surpassed one million. Last month, the UN said that Syrian refugees fleeing the conflict in the Arab country are about to replace Afghans as the biggest refugee population in the world.
