Religious minorities live in peace in Iran: Assyrian MP

TEHRAN, Dec 22, 2013 (IRNA) - Representative of Iranian Assyrians to Majlis, Yonathan Betkolia said on Sunday that religious minorities have peaceful co-existence with their compatriots in Iran.


Betkolia who is also the head of World Assyrians Forum, in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mansour, expressed hope that the situation in Syria would quickly improve and peace and security would be restored to the crisis-hit country.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has spared no efforts to support the religious minorities and is ready to protect Syrian civilians, including Assyrians living in the country.

In the meantime, the Syrian ambassador said that the Syrian nation will never forget Irans support for them amid the current crisis.

Mansour said that the terrorists led by the US, western countries and their agents in the region have targeted the whole Syrian nation.
