Prominent Lawmaker Optimistic about Iraqs Political Stability

TEHRAN, Aug., 17, 2014 (FNA)- Iraqs people and political parties are experienced and wise enough to avoid fueling the crises stirred by their enemies, a senior Iranian lawmaker said, and stressed that calm would prevail in Iraq once the country grows politically stable.

"The Islamic Republic (of Iran) has always held in high regard Iraqs internal decisions and always supports the view of Iraqi people," Chairman of the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday.

"Iran wants political stability in Iraq" so that security would improve in this country, the Iranian parliamentarian said, adding that "Iraq could inflict a crushing defeat on Takfiri terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)" by forming a "united and cohesive government" and "restricting" its army.

On Friday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that establishment of a democratic and strong government in Iraq is to the benefit of entire region, saying that is why Iran has voiced full support for Iraqs new government in its fight against terrorism.

Earlier this week, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon commended the decision of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to give up his candidature and support his rival Haidar al-Abadi as nominee to succeed him.
