TEHRAN, Nov 10, 2013 (Press TV) Iranian lawmakers have refused to give a vote of confidence to President Hassan Rouhanis nominee for the minister of sports and youth for a third time.
Nasrollah Sajjadi, the ministerial nominee, failed to gain Parliaments vote of confidence on Sunday, with 107 votes against, 124 in favor and 22 abstentions out of the 253 votes cast by the parliamentarians.
Earlier in the session, President Rouhani defended the qualifications of Sajjadi. Afterwards, a number of lawmakers took turns to speak in favor of and against the nominee.
Immediately after the vote, Rouhani proposed Mahmoud Goudarzi through an official letter to Parliament as the fourth nominee for the post.
Goudarzi has been the dean of the University of Tehrans Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences since 2008.
On October 27, Parliament refused to grant a vote of confidence to Rouhanis previous choice for the minister of sports and youth, Reza Salehi Amiri.
Rouhanis first nominee to head the Ministry of Sports, Massoud Soltanifar, also lost Parliaments vote of confidence on August 14.
