Parliament ready to form Iran-Cambodia parliamentary friendship group: Vice speaker
Tehran/Islamabad, Dec 10, 2013 (IRNA) Parliament Vice Speaker Mohammad Hassan Abutorabifard said on Tuesday that Parliament is prepared to help set up Iran-Cambodia parliamentary friendship group.
In a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart, Nagyon Nan, on the sidelines of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Pakistan, he voiced his countrys readiness to render necessary assistance to Cambodia.
Abutorabifard said that Cambodia enjoys a special status given the establishment of democratic parliament and Iran will help Cambodia host the next round of APA.
The Iranian vice-speaker of parliament said that APA wished a growing economy for Cambodia, he expressed Irans readiness to contribute to the countrys economic prosperity.
"Iran boasts of higher capabilities and capacities and is prepared to use its capacities for the Cambidian economic development," he said.
Vice speaker of Cambodian parliament, for his part, said that his country accords respect for Iran as a powerful country.
Irans role in holding the assembly and other similar events is crucial, he noted.
He stressed the need to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.
Cambodia will host APA in 2015.
