Parliament Speaker Calls for Halt in Foreign Financial, Military Aid to Terrorists in Iraq, Syria
TEHRAN, June 26, 2014 (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a message on Wednesday called on the western and certain Arab states to halt the flow of their military and financial aid to the terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq.
"The international community, including the United Nations and all responsible humans and countries in the global society should take effective action as requested by the Iranian government and nation in practical opposition to the terrorists, preventing dispatch of financial and military aids to the terrorist groups and controlling international borders," Larijani said in his statement as president of the Ninth Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The Iranian parliament speaker noted that while the democratic trend in Iraq by holding parliamentary elections in that country has opened new horizons to the people of that country, the extremist and terrorist groups by relying on weapons and creating terror as well as committing crimes have occupied parts of the Arab country have practically resorted to animosity with the democratic trend in the Arab country.
Last week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined Tehrans preparedness to help Iraq in fighting terrorism, but meantime, dismissed deployment of any Iranian troops in the crisis-hit country. "We declare this to all the superpowers, mercenaries, murderers and terrorists that the great Iranian nation will spare no efforts to protect their holy sites," President Rouhani addressing a large gathering of local people in Lorestan province.Yet, the Iranian president reiterated that Iran will not give any military assistance to Iraq.
