Larijani Urges Muslim Cooperation
Irans Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says Muslim countries can turn global and regional changes to their favor through cooperation and holding talks. “Under the current circumstances when important changes in the international and regional arenas are taking place, Muslim countries could achieve better standing in global equations through consultation, cooperation and negotiations,” Larijani said in a meeting with the speaker of Indonesias Regional Representative Council, Irman Gusman, on Sunday. The Iranian senior lawmaker described the current situation in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan as the issue of prime importance in the Muslim world and said, “All Muslims have an Islamic duty to help the people of these countries, especially to defend the rights of the innocent people of Palestine.” According to the concerned news media Larijani blamed the Israels alarming oppressive measures against Palestinians, the destruction of Iraq under occupation, the expansion of terrorism and the rise in the production of narcotics in Afghanistan as the policies of major world powers in the region. “Muslim Ummah can alter the course of changes in the region and world to its favor by using all its capacities and abilities, and close cooperation and consultation.” Larijani described the relations between Iran and Indonesia as friendly and said, “The two countries have great potential for expanding cooperation, especially in the economic and industrial sectors. Gusman said Irans economic and technological progress is a source of pride for the Muslim world.
