Larijani Stresses Irans Insistence on N. Rights in Talks with World Powers
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday underlined that the world powers should never expect nuclear concessions from Tehran since the countrys government can and will never give up even an iota of the Iranian nations nuclear rights
"They should not expect anyone to retreat from the Iranian nations rights in future struggles," Larijani told a news conference here in Tehran today. "We are focused on insistence on the nations rights and we lay emphasis on it," he added.
Asked to comment on the recent talks between Iran and the world powers in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday and Tuesday, the speaker said, "Despite ups and downs, the Islamic Republic of Iran stood on the nations interests and gave its message to the opposite side." He reiterated that Tehran would never give up even an iota of its nuclear rights, since acquisition and use of the civilian nuclear technology is part of the "countrys national interests". Senior negotiators from Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) attended three meetings in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday and Tuesday. The two sides agreed at the end of their third session to hold the next round of negotiations in Istanbul late in January. Diplomatic sources said after the talks that the next round of negotiations will be aimed at "talks for cooperation" and "finding common grounds for cooperation".
