Iranian, Italian MPs Stress Enhancement of All-Out Relations

TEHRAN, may 05, 2014 (FNA)- Iranian and Italian parliamentarians stressed the necessity for utilizing each and every capacity and potential of their countries to pave the ground for deepening and widening Tehran-Rome relations in all domains.

In a meeting between Co-Chairman of Iran-Italy parliamentary friendship group Javad Heravi and Ettore Rosato, head of the Democratic Party at Italys Chamber of Deputies in Tehran on Saturday, the two side vow to do their best to enhance bilateral ties, specially in parliamentary field. Heravi, in the meeting, hoped for stronger economic, trade and cultural relations between Iran and Italy. Rosato, for his part, said Italian parliament is willing to expand ties with Iran, an important country in the region and the entire world.

On Saturday, Rosato in a meeting with Supreme Leaders top aide Ali Akbar Velayati stressed Romes enthusiasm for opening a new chapter of consolidated growing relations with Tehran. "Italy looks at the relations with Iran through a special view and has had old and durable friendship with an important country like Iran," Rosato underlined. The 10-member Italian delegation, headed by Rosato, arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning for a four-day visit.

The Italian delegation is scheduled to meet with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Chairman of the Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi and other Iranian authorities, including a number of Foreign Ministry officials. In the last few months, the Islamic Republic has received a number of parliamentary delegations from different countries in line with Tehrans policy to further bolster its foreign relations.

Last week, a French parliamentary group led by Chairman of the French Senates Finance Committee Philippe Marini arrived in Iran to discuss the promotion of economic ties between Tehran and Paris with a number of Iranian lawmakers and cabinet ministers. In December 2013, an eight-member team from the European Parliament (EP) travelled to Tehran and met with senior Iranian legislators, including Larijani and Boroujerdi. The team was led by Tarja Cronberg, who is a member of the EPs Foreign Affairs Committee.
