Iran, Croatia Discuss Enhancement of All-Out Ties

TEHRAN, June 12, 2014 (FNA)- Iranian and Croatian officials emphasized the need for all-out efforts to promote mutual cooperation in all sectors.

In a meeting with Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Josko Klisovic in Tehran on Tuesday, Chairman of the Iranian Parliaments Foreign Policy and National Security Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that development of constructive ties with friendly nations within the framework of reciprocal respect and interests has always stood atop Tehrans foreign policy agenda.

Boroujerdi further underlined Tehran-Zagreb good ties in recent years, and voiced Irans enthusiasm for consolidating ties with the European country in various fields. Klisovic, for his part, underlined Irans importance and influential position in the region, and said that development of ties with Iran especially in the fields of commerce and economy is among the Croatian foreign policies agenda.

He said that Croatia sees no obstacle in the way of development of cooperation with Iran. Klisovic added that Croatian companies are keen to boost share in Irans lucrative market. Iran and Croatia established diplomatic relations on April 18, 1992 when Iran became the 7th country to recognize the newly-independent Croatia. Croatia has an embassy in Tehran and Iran maintains an embassy and a cultural center in Zagreb.
