TEHRAN, Oct. 29, 2013, (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined the heavy responsibility that Iran and China are shouldering in the restoration of peace and tranquility in the region, and called for growing cooperation between the two influential countries to end the current bloodshed in Syria through diplomatic ways.
Addressing a gathering in Beijing University on Tuesday, the Iranian top parliamentarian said that the two capitals could play an influential role in resolving the ongoing crisis in Syria as well as other world crises.
Larijani, heading a high ranking parliamentary delegation, arrived in Beijing on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Beijing international airport, Larijani was warmly welcomed by the top Chinese officials and Irans Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari.
Larijanis visit is taking place at an official invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress of China Zhan De Jiang.
During his four-day stay, he is to hold talks with a number of Chinese high-ranking officials, deliver a speech to the Chinese university students and elites and also visit several major cities.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.
The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israeli stances.
