Democracy in Iraq deep-rooted: Speaker
Tehran, May 13, (IRNA ) Iraqˈs parliamentary elections with high turnout showed that Iraqi democracy is deep-rooted, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Roj Nuri Shawis. The Iraqi parliamentary election was an example of a successful election with international standard, the Speaker noted.
Larijani called for expansion of all-out ties with Iraq in all fields including trade, facilitation of banking transactions for the two countriesˈ private sectors as well as the resolution of the regional environmental problems.
Iraq deputy prime minister for his part noted that removal of all terrorist groups and establishment of peace and security in Iraq is a national demand.
Shawis welcomed the development of ties with Tehran, calling Tehran as a real friend for the Iraqi nation. The Iraqi deputy prime minister, heading a delegation of Iraqi economic activists arrived in Tehran on Sunday afternoon.
