Boroujerdi: Iran organizes the 2nd Meeting of Chairmen of Foreign Policy Committees of Parliaments of Syria Friend Countries
Tehran, May 24, 2014 IRNA - Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday that the Islamic Parliament of Iran intends to organize the 2nd Meeting of Chairmen of Foreign Policy Committees of Parliaments of Syria Friend Countries in Tehran on Jun 1st 2014.
Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Tehran-based diplomatic corps.
Referring to the current sensitive circumstances in Syria, he said it is about four years that Syria has been engaged in war with terrorists.The Islamic Republic of Iran from the early stages of the turmoil has called for the issue should be resolved through political means, he said.
The Syrian friends call for restoration of security and stability in the country, he said.Ambassadors from Palestine, Syria and Nicaragua in separate meetings underlined the significant role of Iran in resolving Syrian crisis.
Syrian ambassador to Tehran praised the efforts of the Iranian people and officials in supporting Syria and said that the upcoming presidential election can help end violence in the country.
He thanked all countries who have voiced readiness to help resolve Syrian crisis during upcoming conference on Syria in Tehran.
In the meeting, ambassadors and representatives from Syria, Palestine, Algeria, Russia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, North Korea, Mauritania, Yemen, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Ghana and representatives from the United Nations in Tehran, and international migration organization were present.
The ambassadors voiced readiness on their behalf of their governments to attend Conference on Syria in Tehran.
