TEHRAN, Apr. 22, 2014 (FNA)- Iranian and Swiss parliamentarians emphasized the need to remove all obstacles to expansion of Tehran-Bern relations.
In a meeting between member of the Swiss Federal Assembly Luzi Stamm and Chairman of the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Tehran on Sunday, Stamm called for promoting bilateral ties, and expressed hope that communications and diplomatic shuttles between the Iranian and Swiss parliamentary officials would increase in future.
Boroujerdi, for his part, said that Switzerland follows an independent policy separate from NATO and EU, so that the Iranian parliamentary commission on National Security and Foreign Policy supports enhanced ties with Switzerland. He further referred to good ties between Iran and Switzerland and stressed the need to promote bilateral ties in all the fields. Stamm, who is on a visit to Tehran at the head of a six-member parliamentary delegation, arrived in Iran on Wednesday.
Several foreign parliamentary delegations have announced their willingness to visit Iran after Tehran and the world powers struck a deal in Geneva in late November. Some 10 foreign parliamentary delegations are scheduled to visit Iran, Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Sheikholeslam said in January. He said that the parliament is making arrangements for the visits.
