Tehran, April 15 – 2018 (Icana) A senior member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) has said that Syria had voluntarily dismantled its chemical weapons since several years ago.
“Damascus has willingly handed over its chemical weapons to international bodies since several years ago,” said Kamal Dehqan Firouzabadi Deputy Chairman of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.
Commenting on the US baseless accusations against Syria and Iran for the recent chemical attacks in that Arab country, the MP told ICANA on Sunday that so far, Iran and Syria have repeatedly been accused for using chemical attacks by the Syrian armed forces.
Firouzabadi added that such claims have been made by those who are directly linked to the United States.
“The Western powers have so far announced several times that it is highly possible that the terrorists possess chemical weapons,” Firouzabadi said adding that it happened while the terrorists themselves had said that they would feel no international concerns and would use chemical weapons whenever they deemed it necessary.
Stressing that Syria had voluntarily handed over its chemical weapons to international bodies, the Iranian MP said the terrorist were on the eve of collapse and that is why they have resorted to the use of the chemical weapons.
“While the Syrian forces had been under deep pressures in some cases, they have refused to use chemical weapons. Now how it is possible that they use unconventional weapons while they are winning almost all the battels and the terrorists are in complete weak point,” Firouzabadi argued.
He noted that the West has embarked a psychological warfare against the Syrian government which has been trying to annihilate the terrorists.
As long as the US continues its illegitimate presence in Syria, Washington is responsible for every unpleasant events and attacks in that country, the MP concluded.
