Speaker: US-backed anti-Daesh coalition just slogan

Istanbul, Nov 23, 2017(IRNA) – The US-backed anti-Daesh coalition was just a slogan and they actually supported terrorist groups, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said.

'Americans have made countries suffer from backwardness for being involved in internal conflicts,' Larijani said in a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi on the sidelines of the 10th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Istanbul on Thursday.

'It is necessary for Afghanistan to take advantage of popular forces besides its army forces in fighting terrorism,' he said referring to using terrorist groups as tools by Western powers.

'Due to the situation in the region, Afghanistan is vulnerable to have some problems,' he noted.

'Iran is after maintaining security in Afghanistan,' Larijani said.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimi referred to the importance of Afghanistan for regional countries, saying Deash and Taliban are being supported and it is a main 'concern for us in post-Daesh era'.

'US pretends fighting Daesh, but in fact it aims at creating conflict in the region,' he said.

'It is essential for Afghanistan to have cooperation with the neighboring countries in fighting terrorist groups,' Afghan speaker said referring to Afghanistan problem as regard lack of airborne military equipment.

Ali Larijani arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, on Tuesday to participate in the 10th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly was established in 2006 at the 7th session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP). APA tries to boost cooperation among Asian countries.
