Tehran, Jan 1, 2020 (ICANA) – Chairman of the Economic Commission of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Elyas Hazrati referred to historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and India saying both sides enjoy high potentials for reinforcing relations.
Speaking in a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Tehran Gaddam Dharmendra, Hazrati said Iran and India are capable of developing cooperation in railway, exchanging scientific and technology information and energy fields.
He expressed hope for developing relations under the supports of the Islamic Parliament of Iran.
Appreciating India for its position with regard to anti-Iran human rights resolution, he said India stance was in line with its independent policy.
Pointing to low level of trade balance between Iran and India, Hazrati underlined taking advantage of economic capacities and making operational agreements signed during the recent joint economic commission.
He also described Chabahar Port as an important opportunity for Iran and India and the regional countries for promoting trade relations.
Elsewhere in his remarks Iranian lawmaker stressed boosting political and parliamentary cooperation between two countries.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra said parliamentary relations have always been important in developing cooperation, adding taking advantage of them in various fields is of importance.
He noted that making operational financial mechanisms based on Indian rupee-rial was one of the most important topic discussed during the recent joint economic commission meeting.
He expressed hope for developing economic relations between two countries.
Expressing happiness over annexation of Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports to free zone which was approved by the Islamic Parliament of Iran, he said it will prepare various opportunities for Iranian and India firms and for Central Asian states as well.
Dharmendra criticized US for imposing sanctions against Iran and underscored India's efforts for developing cooperation with Iran.
He also highlighted boosting relations with Iran in scientific and technology fields.
