TEHRAN, March 7, 2018 (ICANA) – Head of Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group Mahmoud Sadeghi says exchange of experience in campaign against economic and bureaucratic corruption will result in transparency of societies.
According to the Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency (ICANA), Sadeghi made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Agus Raharjo, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Sadeghi, heading members of Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group is on a visit to Indonesia.
He referred to positive and growing relations between Iran and Indonesia and said the Islamic Republic of Iran and Indonesia have always had friendly and fraternal relations in various periods which serves as a solid backing for expansion of political, economic and cultural relations between the two sides.
He highlighted importance of parliamentary relations and said as representatives of the public, parliaments can effort a great help for better identification of the existing capacities of the two countries.
Sadeghi, who is head of the Parliamentary Transparency Committee, congratulated the Indonesian official on Indonesia's promotion by 10 ranks in the list of campaign against corruption and underlined importance for exchanges between Iranian and Indonesian specialized committees.
He noted that exchange of experience in campaign against economic and administrative corruption can end up in transparency and satisfaction of communities.
He added that legal teachings and independence of the institutions in charge of the sector will help development and growth of countries.
Raharjo then voiced pleasure with the visit of Iranian parliamentary delegation to Indonesia and said there are ample grounds available in the two countries for promotion of cooperation in various levels and the two sides can use them in line with interests of the two nations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Raharjo outlined duties and activities of the KPK and said independence of the jurors and financial experts of the KPK, provided by the backing of Indonesian people, has resulted in settlement of many problems and elimination of corruption.
He then emphasized exchange of experience by the KPK and Iranian related organs.
MPs representing Falavarjan and Tehran, Seyed Nasser Moussavi Largani and Mehdi Sheikh, held separate meetings with the KPK head and briefed him on their opinion. They also posed questions on investigation into and countering corruption in Indonesia.
