Tehran, Feb. 22,2017(IRNA) – The Syrian Parliament Speaker Hadiya Khalaf Abbas said on Wednesday that if Iran had not supported Damascus, Syria would not have reached the ongoing victories.
She made the remarks in a meeting with the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada that started here on Tuesday for two days.
The Syrian speaker conveyed the warm greetings of Syrian people, government and parliament to the Iranian president and noted that Syrian people appreciate the generous support of Iranian people.
Undoubtedly without Iran’s support, Syria could not have resisted terrorist attacks and it would not have emerged victorious, she added.
Khalaf Abbas underlined importance of coordination between Iran and Syria against terrorism and said that Syria is now in a constructive political and military status.
She said that boost of Tehran-Damascus relations is necessary, adding that Syria attaches special importance to all-out ties with Iran.
The official referred to Western and Arab countries’ inattention to the Palestinian cause and said that the international conference in support of Palestine held in Tehran can have a positive impact on realization of Palestinian ideals in current situation of the region.
