TEHRAN, Dec. 01, 2016 (ICANA) – Special Committee for Establishment of Asian Parliament was formed on the sidelines of the 9th Plenary Session of the ASIAN Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Cambodia on Nov. 28 – Dec. 2, 2016.
Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency (ICANA) reports that the special committee for establishment of the Asian parliament was held on the sidelines of the 9th Plenary Session of the APA in Siem Reap, Cambodia, to survey ways of achieving it and draw up the roadmap for establishment of the Asian parliament.
Addressing the meeting, which was presided by Pakistani Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani, member of Iranian Parliament Presiding Body Ali Kazemi supported the idea of forming Asian parliament and said such a goal will be met on condition of profound and drastic investigation and consideration of the cultural differences and other side issues.
He also called for collecting views of the members on the important issue by the APA secretariat.
He warned against jumping to the conclusion on the issue.
Concluding his remarks, Kazemi said Iranian parliament is ready for any kind of cooperation with the head and secretariat of APA to arrange preliminaries for Asian parliament establishment.
After the dialogue and exchange of views , the members decided to follow up the issue in the next committee session in 2017 after collecting proposals and views of the members by the Assembly Secretariat.
