TEHRAN,Jun 16, 2017 (FNA)- Iranian ambassador to Oman Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi and Oman's Consultative Assembly Speaker Khalid Hilal bin Nasser al-Mawali in a meeting in Muscat underlined the need for broadening of parliamentary relations.
During a meeting in the Omani capital on Thursday, Nouri Shahroudi and Khalid explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.
The two sides voiced their satisfaction over the status quo of Tehran-Muscat relations, and called for forming a Joint Iran-Oman Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the meeting, al-Mawali condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Tehran on June 7, and Sympathized with the Iranian government and people, the families of the victims in particular.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, presented a message by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan to the Speaker of Oman's Consultative Assembly.
I n relevant remarks in early May, Nouri Shahroudi stressed the necessity for the further broadening of economic ties and cooperation with Oman.
The two countries should take advantage of the existing potentials to broaden economic cooperation, Nouri Shahroudi said, addressing a 30-member Iranian economic delegation in Muscat.
The Iranian ambassador advised the Iranian companies to export high quality products to Oman, adding that the Iranian embassy in the country will spare no efforts to support them.
In relevant remarks in early March, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi announced that his country is seriously pursuing reinvigoration of bilateral relations with Oman.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is serious about establishing stronger ties with Oman and the necessary political will is there to further expand and develop bilateral relations with Oman," Sarmadi said in a meeting with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi in Tehran.
Albusaidi, for his part, underlined the highly good relations between the two countries, and said, "The Iran-Oman ties are a role model in the region and Oman is seriously willing and attempting to develop and deepen bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
During the meeting, the two sides also conferred on avenues to further strengthen bilateral ties in all fields, specially in economic and banking arenas.
