EC chairman: Era of political competition over, time ripe for construction
Tehran, Feb. 27,2016(IRNA) – Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Saturday hailed peoples massive turn out in parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections and said the era of political competition is over and time is ripe for construction.
We need an exemplary model for coordination and these elections prepared the grounds to attain it, Rafsanjani said.
All disputes and differences should be put aside and all should spare no efforts to construct the country, Rafsanjani said.
These elections were registered in the history and participation of over 32 million eligible voters (60 percent) should be regarded as a remarkable asset for the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.
Calm and disciplines in the elections and the massive turn out of people in the polls strengthen the pillars of the Islamic system paving the way for construction of Islamic Iran, he said.
Results of the elections help uphold the status of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region and the world, wining trust of people and the Supreme Leader, he said.
Under such sensitive circumstances that insecurity has engulfed the entire region, the sound elections could be an exemplary model for democracy, he said.
On regional developments, Rafsanjani welcomed the ceasefire in Syria and said all sides should help maintain it to end the war and eradicate terrorists.
Living in peace is among vital rights of people in the region and people should help promote it, he said.
